Pausing and resuming
Pausing during a show and what happens when you resume.
Pausing and resuming
Pausing an event lets you stop the run without losing anything. Cues, shows, and the crew message history from the current run are all preserved. You can come back later and pick up exactly where you left off.
How to pause
While the event is active, click the Stop event button in the event action bar. A modal appears with two options — choose Pause event.
The event is suspended immediately. Any open room sessions are ended, and no cue timers are running. The event stays in the paused state until you explicitly resume or stop it definitively.
What pausing preserves
Everything. Shows and cues are untouched. The crew message history from this run is kept in full. When you resume, the director view shows the same show and cue that were active when you paused, and the crew reconnects to the same feed.
Pausing does not reset the active cue or clear any output state. It's a clean suspension, not a reset.
Resuming
Click Start event in the event action bar. Because the event is paused rather than idle, a modal appears with two choices:
Resume — re-activates the event with the message history intact. The crew connects and picks up the same feed from where it stopped. Use this for any break where continuity matters — an interval in a theater show, a break between sessions at a conference, a pause in a rehearsal.
Fresh start — re-activates the event but clears all crew messages from this run before going live. Use this when the gap between segments is large enough that the previous chat is no longer relevant — for example, between a morning and evening service using the same event setup. Cues and shows are unaffected in both cases.
Pausing vs ending a show
There are two levels of stopping in CueProX, and it's worth knowing when to use each:
Pause event suspends the entire event — no show is running, no session is active. Use this when you're done for a while and won't be back at the director view for a meaningful period.
End show (in the director top bar) ends the current show's session but leaves the event running. The event stays active; you can immediately start the next show or leave the event running while you prepare. The crew message board stays open.
