People, Q&A, Outputs, and Settings
The left sidebar has four panels beyond Cues, Timeline, Messages, and Alerts. Here's what each one does.
People
The People panel lists everyone who has access to this room: name, email, team membership (as colored dots), Team Lead badge if applicable, and role.
It's a read-only reference view. There are no actions here — you can't message individuals or remove anyone from this panel.
This is distinct from the Access tab in room settings, which is where you actually invite members, change roles, and remove access. The director People panel is just a "who's in this room" reference — useful for quickly confirming someone's team assignment mid-show without leaving the director view.
Q&A
The Q&A panel is only visible to roles that can moderate questions: Owner, Director, Associate Director, and Q&A Moderator.
Layout
Now and Next slots — two cards at the top showing which question is currently displayed on the Q&A Public output ("Now") and which one is queued up ("Next"). You can manually set or clear either slot.
Incoming — questions submitted by the audience that are waiting for review. Approve or reject each one.
Approved — questions that have been approved and are queued for display. Reorder them with the ↑ / ↓ buttons. Use "Set Now" and "Set Next" to pin specific questions to the live slots.
Answered / Rejected — collapsible sections at the bottom for questions you've finished with or dismissed.
"Next question" button advances the queue — the "Next" question moves to "Now", and the next approved question steps up to "Next".
Header controls
Auto / Open / Closed (Director and above) — overrides the Q&A state regardless of what cues or shows are doing. Auto lets the system open and close Q&A based on Q&A cues and Q&A shows; Open forces it on; Closed forces it off.
Show QR (Director and above) — when enabled, the Q&A Public output displays a QR code so the audience can scan to submit questions. When off, it shows a placeholder instead.
Live updates arrive via socket; a 30-second poll runs as a fallback if the connection drops.
Detailed walkthroughs of the Q&A workflow are in the Q&A category of this guide.
Outputs
The Outputs panel lists the output URLs for team outputs and the Q&A Public screen so you can open or share them quickly during setup.
Each row has two controls on the right:
- Copy — copies the URL to the clipboard so you can paste it into a message or browser
- External link — opens the output in a new tab
Use the Outputs panel when you're setting up fresh laptops or tablets before a show. Everything is in one place — no need to remember which URL goes where.
Note
Settings
The Settings panel lets you make quick edits without leaving director view:
- Room name and description — rename the room on the fly
- Room color — change the color that identifies this room across the interface
- Cue types — add, edit, or remove custom cue types; same interface as in room config
- End current session (danger zone) — terminates the active show session immediately. Useful if a session got stuck or was started accidentally.
